Owl and the Japanese Circus (Adventures of Owl, #1) by Kristi Charish 4 Stars

I’ve been waiting for this one to come out, ever since I saw the preview of it, and it didn’t disappoint. Definitely a unique take on certain supernatural elements.

Despite the fact that Alix (or Owl as she is called) is a thief, she’s a likable character. She’s not really a planner and is so headstrong, she often runs into situations without really thinking things through, so there are definitely some harrowing moments. But she is loyal to a fault and usually completely honest, even when she’s stealing ancient artifacts.

Owl doesn’t seem to have any supernatural powers of her own, but she seems to think she knows about the supernatural world and has vowed to stay out of it, until a supernatural job comes along that she can’t refuse.

Owl is extremely snarky and sarcastic, and gets herself in more trouble with her mouth than her actual escapades down dark caverns and underground tunnels, while searching for treasure. This makes for some pretty funny moments.

This particular job involves a whole host of supernatural creatures. Some are good, some are bad, but they’re all just a bit crazy.

Owl and the Japanese Circus is action packed drama, that doesn’t stop until the end, not to mention there’s a sexy love interest for Owl.

It was a fun read, right up to the end, and sets up the next story quite nicely. Hopefully we don’t have too long to wait for it.

Definitely recommend this one.
