Blood Shifted by Edie Spence 5 Stars

Arcadia Bell (or Cady as she is known to her friends) is gearing up for the ultimate battle with her mother. You think your mother is bad? She’s nothing compared to Cady’s mother. In the final book in the series, Cady needs to find out how to reverse the spell that was cast when her mother conceived her. The evil mother wants all of Cady’s magical skills and the only way to get them is to take over her body, which was the plan from the moment they conceived her (nice mom huh?) and will give her the extreme power she craves. Cady must stop her even if it means killing her.

I really liked this series. I didn’t realize it was the end of the series until I got to the epilogue. That was a huge disappointment since the main characters are so likable. The relationship between Cady and Jupe (her boyfriend’s 14 year old son) seems so tangible. It’s obvious that Cady feels a mother’s love for him, even though she didn’t give birth to him. I really like the interactions between them. This is also the first time you get to read from Jupe’s point of view. There isn’t a lot of action until the very end, but it was the ‘mother’ of all showdowns that will have you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend you check out this series, starting with book one. Kindling the Moon.
